Not sure it would help but that's one less pitch that can be put in play...

USSSA is the only association that has that DUMBASS rule...if you can't keep the ball in the lines in slow pitch you should stop playing...

Also if you swing and completely MISS a ball it should be an OUT regardless of pitch count...

All I know is that one of my ASA leagues institiuted the courtesy foul as a rule this year. It's fuckin gay. If you can't keep the ball fair, that's your own fault.

I liked playing in the one pitch tourny last Friday. That made things much more interesting and made the games a lot quicker.

The extra strike does help the pitcher. It gives the batter another real swing where he doesnt have to keep it in play and go middle.

However, the umps need to open the damn zone with the extra strike. Too many guys look at pitches even with the extra foul!

What do you mean by extra foul? I thought it meant take a strike, foul one off, then have to put it in play.

I play in a church league this year, one of the first guys up took two right down the cock, then fouls one off, and I was blown away that he was somehow still up at bat for yet another pitch.

USSSA we get the extra foul. If strike three is a swung through or down broadway and you look at it you are out!

Default idea's

I dont post on hear as much as others but another thing that they should consider doing is expand the strike zone.....alot of umps want it to land right behind the point of home plate and about a foot in front of the catcher. this makes it very easy to run up and hit the ball , also look into not allowing hitters to run or walk up and attack the ball....makes it very easy to shoot middle.......they say its a hitters game well then lets make it harder on them.....see how good you are!!! later
