Totally agree with you Randy but my problem is in the leagues/tourneys around hear they aren't enforced but when you go to any National their stricklly enforced. No being that they aren't enforced around here Ill be the first to say I take advantage of that but when I go to a national it difficult to remember that they are there. I think it would definatelly help the game if they were enforced but I cant see people lining the box after every game. When we went to the ISA in Virginia we were told that anybody messing up the lines purposelly would be punished and they lined them every 2 games. I still got called out of the box though because our moron ump told me that even if I make contact while in the box my motion can't carry me out, just a dumb ump.

He had 1 foot in the box when he made contact...both feet in before and 1 foot during contact...

my interpetation was ANY contact out of the batters box...where's aba tom...he KNOWS!!!

ILLEGALLY BATTED BALL is one Batted Fair or Foul by the Batter when either one
or both of his feet are in contact with the ground COMPLETELY outside the lines of the
Batter’s Box, or when his foot is in contact with Home Plate

off u-trip website...one foot was cleary out of the box and in contact with the ground...

I'm not 100% on it but I'm pretty sure you need to have 1 foot in the box upon contact with the ball...I could be wrong though because if you even step on the plate or in front of it when making contact with the ball you're out..

Wink

atleast part of one foot must be in or on the line at the point of contact...helmer is legal, but wouldn't see a strike from me.

...you can even step inFRONT of the plate as long as your back foot is in the box, unless they changed the rule.

either ONE or both feet in contact with the ground...looks to me like one foot is in contact with the ground...what's hard to see???

So we are asking the ump to look at the pitch and down at the batters feet and to judege if his foot makes contact outside the box before he strikes the ball? It looks clear cut from the angle we have on video now stand directly behind at real time speed with a catcher next to you and it is pretty tough to call that. Much easier to call on the plate or in front of because of the angle you see it.

Unless it is 100% clear cut from the umpires viewpoint that call wouldnt be made. Besides you think they are going to call Helmer or anyone on that level out like that?
