Default Never trust a BP screen 100%

Never trust a pitching screen to do it's job 100%. Below is the screen that cost me probably 3 teeth and 4 stitches in my lip yesterday. A board bro and I were hitting and have used this screen several times, with no issue. The hole that's blocked off has a Velcro flap so you can move it side to side as needed, more for fast pitch pitching machine purposes. This Velcro is some HEAVY duty stuff. You can almost pull the screen over just trying to pull the flap off. He and I both have hit several balls off of the flap with no issue at all. Until yesterday. Threw him a pitch and saw where it was going to end up so I got behind the screen and just stood there waiting to see it go by. Next thing I know I hear the ball hit the screen and then I'm standing there with blood running from my mouth. The ball short hopped the screen and shot right through the top of the flap (which is also Velcro). I didn't even bother to turn away or anything, thinking the screen would stop it. Wrong. Complete freak accident, but a learning lesson for me. And hopefully some of you guys too. I have always just stood there and watched ball after ball hit the screen and never thought twice about it. I will certainly not be doing that anymore.

Footnotes/damage report - Freak accident and the ball made it through the screen and got me in the mouth. Teeth are still intact. Actually fractured the roof of my mouth and pushed the teeth back. Just left the dentist office, they set the fracture and have a wire going across 4 of my teeth. The two that are pushed back I will lose for sure, and maybe my other front tooth.

Ouch! Hope you heal up quickly.

I built my own. There are 4 layers of netting in case 1 or 2 or 3 fail. I still keep my glove up, though.

Does it break down at all? I have an SUV and a car, so I'd need to have a way to break it down. I'd love to get a pitch safe but $330 is a tough price to pay. Beats not having teeth though.

As built, it isn't designed to break down. I just stick it in the back of the truck.
