Default Director Suspended

USSSA Tournament Director Suspended
Dayton, Oh.- Donnie Brewer, a USSSA Tournament Director from the Greater Dayton area of Ohio-South has been suspended by Ohio USSSA State Director, Scott Kuhnen.

The suspension relates to the use of a bat suspected of being altered in a softball tournament held on March 19th at Mid-America Ballyard in Colerain Township. The bat was confiscated by park officials and shipped to the manufacturer, Worth Sports Company, for examination. Worth subsequently confirmed that the bat was altered.

Brewer did not use the bat, but acknowledged owning it.

“Although this event did not fall under the jurisdiction of USSSA, the acknowledgement by one of our Directors of owning and making available an altered bat is considered an ‘unbecoming act that is detrimental to the best interests of USSSA’ and is not acceptable,” said Kuhnen.

“Making this decision was particularly difficult,” explained Kuhnen. “Although we sought fact-based incident reports from multiple tournament officials, including the umpire, none have been forthcoming. It is simply not our practice to take actions based on rumor, word of mouth, or message boards, all of which have been evident in this case.”

“In the end,” Kuhnen explained, “Donnie owned up to the responsibility and assumed it rather than allow it to be placed solely on the player using the bat.”

“Mr. Brewer has been informed that he will not be allowed to participate in the USSSA program in any capacity until the suspension is lifted.”

A letter of suspension was provided to Brewer this past weekend in Dayton in compliance with the USSSA Constitution. Brewer will be eligible to appeal his suspension to the USSSA Board of Directors in one year.

“We apologize to the entire softball community for what has been an obvious embarrassment for everyone involved,” said Kuhnen. “Donnie is very remorseful and will be contacting tournament and park officials to personally apologize for his actions. He has already apologized to my office

Anyone who doesn't swing their own bat makes me laugh

If you play more than 20 games a year, you should own a bat for fuck's sake

i wont argue that at all. you can get a bat for 150 bucks and have it last all summer. some guys on here spend that at the concession stand on saturday.

By the way, anyone who gets caught and admits it, can't be that smart

I don't condone this behavior at all, but "deny deny deny" are words to live by.

"I didn't know it was shaved"

"someone else gave it to me"

"I bought it from Ebay" (my personal fav)

Yes you're right. Why be dependant on "Joe" showing up and when he's gonna be out worrying what bat you're gonna swing? Mooch ass.

I agree. if u play travel softball almost 2-3 times a month you should invest in a 150-300 softball bat.
