Down 1 in Top 7, 1 out , men on 2nd and 3rd , ball hit to infield - do you try and take home?

I'd like to know who hits the ball to the infield when the tying run is at 3rd and the go ahead run is at second?

Met's fan, have you recovered yet? The guy who made that play at 1st, I'll say he makes that play less then .500% of the time.

I don't have a problem w/ the guy going right side w/ runners on 2nd and third.

Which play at 1st?

And hell no I haven't recovered , I went from thinking I wasnt going to play to playing 3 man outfield in 90 degree weather - I consider myself lucky to be alive

Rodo I don't try to take home in that spot unless the ball beats the outfielder. Seriously though, I don't go on that play but fast guys have been taught from day 1 to go on a ball hit to the right side. The problem is that the 1B coach (Captain Benny) supposedly just finished yelling "only go if it's a hit" or something like that. The runner (not a regular but a quality callup for us and a very fast runner) hesitated for a second probably thinking about what Benny said. That hesitation cost him/us. He still insists he was safe. I don't buy it. Anybody else have an opinion on the call at home?

There were in fact zero outs in that spot as somebody pointed out. The double play 3-3-2 and then the K looking finished things up nicely.

Incidentally, the batter in that spot is as good or more likely better than anybody in this area hitting utrip so I have no problem with him in that spot. Knowing his swing, he ALWAYS gets lift on the ball when he goes to that side so I think he was trying to lift it over the 1B for a worst case scenario sac fly. Best case scenario it's a double. Don't forget, that was the top of the 7th so we're not just playing for 2 runs to win it. Yes you need to tie it before you can win it but we figured we'd have to score some runs to withstand a late charge in the bottom of the inning not realizing that you guys only had 4 runs left in you that day.

If you told us in the beginning of the day that we'd be in position to beat you guys twice, we'd take it for sure but to lose like that definitely hurt. Then I have to worry about hot heads with little to no self control swinging at each other afterwards so I couldn't stick around and enjoy a beer after the game. That hurt too.

For all that talk about being a glorified EH, you handled yourself pretty well out there from what I saw.
