Default J3A Weighting

Has anyone had J3A's of different wieghts? My brother has a 27 and I just picked up a 28 and their balance points are VERY different. There is about an inch difference between the two. Both bats were purchased NIW and have not been tampered with. The 28 is WAY more endloaded and feels more than an ounce heavier than the 27. Haven't had a chance to compair them on a scale, but the difference is very noticable. Has anyone else experienced this?

27's are WAY hotter than 28's. They use a thicker barrel on the 28's & 30's. All the Demarini big boys around here only swing the 27's. Unload the 28 and grab up a couple 27's.

The 28 has been good, but it is not on the same level as the 27 that I've swung. Only problem is the crack that the 27 started to develop after a few hundred swings. It runs parallel to the barrel and appears to only be on the outer layer/paint, but it still makes me worried.

As for the barrel thickness, is that confirmed with Demarini or is that just the general thought/understanding?

That's a general statement but pretty spot on. My 26 oz fu dawg is webbed up and ready to go. My buddy bought a 30 oz and we've been hitting stadium balls to get it to open up still no luck. 27 oz is a perfect weight. Anymore than that and you're sacrificing hotness for a durability. IMHO

That's the way most of the 27's end up. If you don't have umps that check the barrel close you will be able to use it for quite a while. It's just the very outer layer that comes apart.

Not direct from Demarini info, but second hand from guys that play with the factory hitters around here.

So I need to learn to swing 27's is what you're saying?!

I thought all they did was add weight to the handle and end cap, not change barrel I.D.

Yep. Faced a team a couple of months ago with three or four Demarini factory guys on it, big dudes. All 26's & 27's lined up on the fence. When they hit the J3's just a wrist flick and it was gone.

Interesting and sucks at the same time being thst I'm set on 30's. I have a 30oz j3a coming in a couple weeks, should hit it vs a 26oz and see how I do. In the past 26 has been too light, I can feel the kick back on the bat. Maybe a 27 is worth a shot, what I started with.

I always understood that they change the weight with the end cap and plugs in the knob.

This was my understanding also, but maybe Demarini changed the mold. Does anyone know for sure how they are weighted?
