Default EZ Board Help (Avatars, Images, Search, Register, ...)

Registering for EZ board is not neccesary for posting but if you do register then people won't be able to impersonate you. Below is a link to the global account registration, click on it and fill in the blanks....

Click here to register for an account

The chat room has a link on each message board. It can be found right below the "NorthEast Softball" label. The link says "Join Live Chat!" If there are people in there, it will say "(XX People currently chatting)". A couple of us have been chatting at night when we get home from our games.

EZ Supporter - what it is and how to get it.

The easiest way to use this board is to use the Mark Forum Read feature. To do this you go to the 'front page' of the board (This board's front page is here) and click on Mark ALL Forums Read. Now you shouldn't see any of those icons flashing on the left side of the page. Use that front page as your table of contents. Now whenever anybody posts anything in any of the forums that little will turn up again. You go into that forum...see what new threads are there and then when you're done you go to the top of that forum and hit the Mark Forum Read link.

Here is how EZ Board expains it...

Mark Forum Read / Show New Only

You can save yourself time and energy by using the Mark Forum Read and Show New Only features. To effectively use these two features available to all users, simply follow these steps outlined below.

Key Information
You have to be logged into your account to use these features.
If you are posting with two windows open – marking a forum read can be overridden by any changes you make in the other window, so make sure to only have one window open and active.

--------------------------------------------------------

How to use Mark Forum Read
Read all posts and topics in a given forum.
Click on the Mark Forum Read link at the top of the Topic Listing / Forum page. This will remove all New Topic/Post icons in the forum. If you leave it like this the next time you visit the forum you will only need to visit the topics with the new icons.

How to use Show New Only
Read all posts and topics in a given forum.

You can click on the Show New Only link at the top before leaving the forum. If you use the features together like this, the next time you visit the forum, you will only see new topics or topics with new posts.

To use the EZ Board Search to find a certain thread, there are a few things you should know.

1) You can find the search link at the top of the page next to 'mark forum read'.
2) It only searches one forum at a time...the forum you are currently in.
3) It doesn't search the whole forum which sucks...it only searches pages that your computer has "seen". In other words if you've only gone back to page 3 and your thread is on page 5, you won't find it with the search feature. What this means is that to really search properly you should click on each page number back as far as you think you need to go (the pages you've read will appear as a different color than the ones you haven't) and THEN go do your search.

Adding an Avatar Pic Below Your Name:

For those that want to have an ID picture or Avatar on EZ Board:

1. You need to get the URL of what pic you want. You can get the URL by right clicking on the pic and look for properties. Click on properties and on next screen the URL will show up. It will start with end with either .jpg or .gif or something similar. Sometimes they take more than one line. Copy the entire thing to paste later.
2. Go to ImageShack.us and click on the button marked upload from URL and then paste the URL you copied into that window just to the right.
3. Click on Host It a few lines down.
4. Copy the entire URL that is located in the window next to where it says Direct link to image. Now you have your image hosted somewhere legally so that you won't get busted for Hotlinking.
5. Go back to the main page on this board and click on "My Control Center".
6. Then look for and click on Edit Profile
7. Then the top choice will be My Photo
8. Paste the URL of the pic in there.
9. Make sure you unclick the little box above it that says “private”.
10. Then scroll to bottom and click on Save Changes.

You're done. EZ Board doesn't limit file size for images but they will automatically shrink your pic down to a 10x10 version so take that into account when choosing an image. Try not to choose something too detailed that nobody will be able to make out in the ilmited size.

First of all, when you open up a new post, you should see between your subject and the body a button for EZCodes. Make sure that button is checked and you should see a series of boxes to the left of the bigger window. Click here to see how to use those buttons to their fullest extent.

TO POST A LINK:

1) To post a link you must first copy the entire URL (http://www.what's the ****ing address.com).
2) Open up a new post window (reply or else new topic)
3) Click on the ezCodes button that is just below your subject and just above the body of your new post.
4) Off to the left should now be 6 buttons. The 2nd one down is for linking. Click on it and paste the URL into that little window (ctrl-V or else right click on it and hit paste).

TO POST AN IMAGE:

1) To post an image (picture) you must first find the image that you want to post.
a) you cannot post a pic from your desktop unless you host it somewhere first. Options include Image Shack and Photo Bucket (see a huge list in the next post). You can not post an image that's being hosted on Geocities or Tripod or one that is on your desktop or in your email inbox unless you host them first in one of the options in the next post. Some other sites also don't allow hotlinking but you'll figure that out as you go along.
b) a great way to find images is by doing a google search on somebody/something and click on the image button at the top.
2) Once you have found the image you want to post, right click on the picture and hit PROPERTIES. From there you must copy the entire URL (it should end with .jpg or .gif - if it doesn't try scrolling down - there might be more hidden). Once you highlight the whole URL, right click on it and hit COPY.
3) Open up a new post window (reply or else new topic)
4) Click on the ezCodes button that is just below your subject and just above the body of your new post.
5) Off to the left should now be 6 buttons. The 1st one down is for images. Click on it and paste the URL into that little window (ctrl-V or else right click on it and hit paste).
6) You're done but if the image doesn't work then the site you got the pic from doesn't allow hotlinking. In that case you're going to have to host the image yourself (see next post down).

TO POST A VIDEO:

1) Copy the URL address from the video (either just copy it right out of the browser window at the top or else right click on the link that sent you there and COPY SHORTCUT).
2) Post that link just as you would any other link (see top of this post)

- A new Rapidshare page will open. Now wait 40 seconds or so (if you scroll down, you will see a number counting down to zero)
- A link to the video file will appear. Right-click and save it to your desktop.

(Be aware that Rapidshare only allows each user to download a certain number of MBs each hour. If you’re unable to download a file, try again later.)

Online Image Editor: This will allow you to make big pictures little so you can use them for avatars on other boards like SBF that don't automatically shrink the images for you. It also helps you to shrink images before posting so that they're not too big and distort the whole page:

myimager.com

Supposedly it will let you do some other stuff like add text and filters but I didn't get that far into it. It's basically almost an online version of photoshop.

Online gif Editor

Free copy of Headline Studio by MetaCreations. It's for making animated-gifs.
