Question Good All Body Workout

Let me start by saying I haven't been to a gym in 10+ years, I'm not fat or anything, maybe a little heavier than I should weigh.

Anyway I'm about ready to get my ass to a gym after procrastinating for 10 years but have no idea what I'm doing.

So short of just telling me to "get a trainer" which I'm going to try and do, any advice for a good all body workout? Primarily directed towards what one would have to work on to become a more powerful player?

For instance, something like this

If your serious I could put a plan together for you.

I'd recommend a 4 day split routine. Chest/bi's, back/tri's, shoulders, legs. It takes less time & gives your body plenty of rest. You can knock these out within 45min's to 1hr.

I have a killer total upper body & total lower body routine if you want. Those total body deals take a long time to get done in a gym

2-3 days a week: ( focus on proper mechanics)
1st set = 25-30 overloaded dry swings (bat 4oz over your gamer)
2nd set = 25-30 underloaded dry swings (bat 4oz under your gamer)
3rd set = 25-30 gamer swings (your game bat)

This alone will help your bat speed a lot

These 2 sample workout attachments should get your started. Change up your exercises even 2-3months to keep your body guessing.

Drink atleast 1/2 your body weight in ounces of water a day & eat your body weight in grams of protein per day along with a reasonable diet to see the best results.

Nevermind the files are too large to attach or anything.

If it's been 10+ years and you don't have much experience, start simple and build core strength. I hazed my Marines with this when they started getting fat.

Do this for 15 minutes. Once you start getting faster doing this, do it for 30 minutes.
5 pullups
10 pushups
15 squats (no weight, and go deep)
2-3 times per week, with running and lots of stretching in between.

Since you're probably at least in your 30's I suggest really working on flexability as well. This will help your muscles heal faster and keep you from getting injured.

Yeah send me an email I'll send you some sample plans. That will get you started. Just take it easy at 1st till your body gets used to lifting again or you'll be too sore to do anything.

For softball or any sport for that matter explosive lifts are the end all exercises. I follow the Crossfit Football site. im 37 and i'm faster and hit harder than I did 10 years ago. I used to do the bodybuilding style wk outs and didnt get near the results I do now. Granted you wont have the "beach muscles" you would doing curls n shit but you will be dropping bombs. Common sense is If you want to be strong and fast..train strong and fast. You dont even have to follow crossfit. Just add some Oly lifts to your routine and I promise you will see the difference
